GoCardless Embed, Cryptowinter, Worldpay is back
Dear Payment Lovers,
We believe that there is no better way to spend your Wednesday evening than to read the latest payments news.
Everyone can now use GoCardless white-labeled solution GoCardless Embed
GoCardless has finally opened up access to its payment network to businesses and payment providers worldwide. It will increase the number of companies that are able to access the benefits of fast and reliable bank debit payments that are cheaper than traditional card payments.
“GoCardless Embed, which comes white-labeled a standard, allows payment providers to integrate GoCardless’ global bank payment network straight into their platform through a single simple API “.
This decision can potentially help to promote use of bank payments and encourage further innovations in the payment industry.
Cryptowinter goes on
PayPal has paused its work on stablecoins. The company is worried about the new set of regulations around crypto.
Stablecoins are a type of cryptocurrency that's tied to the value of another asset (e.g., the US dollar). PayPal was intended to use stablecoins to make it easier for customers to use digital currencies, but they're still concerned about the potential risks.
This can be a sign that the crypto industry is still pretty erratic and too many things are changing way too fast.
Worldpay is back (probably)
There have been a lot of rumors about FIS splitting their business and intending to bring Worldpay back as a dedicated company.
FIS is a major player in the payments industry and acquired Worldpay in 2019. But it looks like they decided to keep two businesses apart and focus on Worldpay’s core banking and payments technology offerings. The company is a leading provider of merchant acquiring and payment processing services.
This spin-off is expected to create a new publicly traded company.
